Think of a car with a flat tyre. Driving the car is difficult. The steering is heavy. The car veers sideways, is sluggish and underperforms.
The same happens with feet. When the feet are out of alignment, standing, walking or running are difficult. There can be pain anywhere is the feet, legs or lower back. Activity is sluggish, unbalanced and clumsy. When the feet are unsupported, there can be too much ‘sideways’ movement, rather than moving ahead with ease.
Orthotics are the equivalent to fixing that flat tyre. They realign the bones and muscles of the feet and lower body so that movement flows more naturally and easily.
